AMC Networks is working on Orphan Black: Echoes, a long-awaited new series set in the world of the landmark series Orphan Black, to appear on AMC+ and the company’s linear networks in 2023. Anna Fishko (Pieces of Her, The Society, Fear the Walking Dead) is creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer with John Fawcett, the co-creator of the original series who also directed 17 episodes across all five seasons, on as director and executive producer.

Laysla De Oliveira is starring opposite Zoe Saldaña in the upcoming Paramount+ original series Lioness, from Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan.
Saldaña also is serving as executive producer alongside Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman and her production company, Blossom Films. Lioness is based on a real-life CIA program and follows Cruz Manuelos (De Oliveira), a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within.

Academy Award winner Kathryn Bigelow is directing a feature film adaptation of Aurora for Netflix. The film will be based on David Koepp’s upcoming novel, to be published June 7 by HarperCollins. The story follows characters who are coping with the collapse of the social order, set against a catastrophic worldwide power crisis.

With the continued success of the period series Bridgerton, Netflix and Shondaland recently announced the cast of the limited series based on the origins of the historical figure Queen Charlotte. While the project is untitled, the series centers on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte. It will also focus on Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.

Award-winning The Virgin of Highland Park helmer Sonía Sebastian is directing the LGBTQ+ coming-of-age story The Kiss List. Screenwriter Ximena García Lecuona adapted Sara Jo Cluff’s young-adult book of the same name. The movie wrapped filming earlier this month in and around Louisville, Kentucky. MarVista Entertainment developed the feature film under the direction of the company’s Head of Creative Affairs Hannah Pillemer from Cluff’s 2019 book from Monster Ivy Publishing.
